As we press forward in a post-COVID world, perhaps the most palpable and lasting change is the continued wearing of face masks. For most people in the US and abroad, seeing another person’s bare face in public is now a rarity.
Almost every state in the union has had some form of mask mandate – many of them long lasting, and still others continue today. After a year of masking the general public in an attempt to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus, what does the data show about the effectiveness of this measure?
One might make the assertion that if the masks were effective to stop the virus, then they likely wouldn’t be needed for a full year. If however, they did not stop the spread of the virus, one could expect transmission to continue regardless of what everyone is wearing on their face.
An article published by The Gateway Pundit cites some compelling news on the matter: A new study out of Stanford (“Facemasks in the COVID-19 era: A health hypothesis”, by Baruch Vainshelboim), asserts that the masks are not just ineffective, but detrimental.
The study concluded the following: “The existing scientific evidences challenge the safety and efficacy of wearing facemask as preventive intervention for COVID-19. The data suggest that both medical and non-medical facemasks are ineffective to block human-to-human transmission of viral and infectious disease such SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19, supporting against the usage of facemasks. Wearing facemasks has been demonstrated to have substantial adverse physiological and psychological effects. These include hypoxia, hypercapnia, shortness of breath, increased acidity and toxicity, activation of fear and stress response, rise in stress hormones, immunosuppression, fatigue, headaches, decline in cognitive performance, predisposition for viral and infectious illnesses, chronic stress, anxiety and depression. Long-term consequences of wearing facemask can cause health deterioration, developing and progression of chronic diseases and premature death. Governments, policy makers and health organizations should utilize prosper and scientific evidence-based approach with respect to wearing facemasks, when the latter is considered as preventive intervention for public health.”
The full study can be found posted on the National Center for Biotechnological Information government website. Where it will NOT be found is in any mainstream media outlet.
The mainstream outlets are still beating the proverbial dead horse with year-old axioms “trust the science”, “continue to wear your facemasks” and so on and so forth...disregarding the very credible findings that masking is now being identified as a cause of heath deterioration and premature death.
In the information age where endless data is at our fingertips, the truth can seem almost impossibly out of reach. But it is not. And with this fact in mind, it is increasingly important to link arms with those seeking truth over blind faith in narrative.
After all, the truth is its own reward.
