Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is supporting new legislation to hold violent rioters and complicit government officials accountable for their actions.
The new legislation package will authorize felony charges against criminal rioters who damage private and/or government property.
The package, he named the Combating Violence, Disorder, and Looting Act, is lined up with another Law Enforcement Protection Act. The new legislation would hit the BLM and Antifa groups right where they put their focus.
It doesn’t just stop at property damages.
The new law would enable criminal charges for 'protesters' blocking public roadways as well as the rage mob's newest tactic of harassing and intimidating private citizens, such as the street-side restaurant harassment videos we've all seen.
And there's more. Perhaps the most important part of this legislation allows those government officials, who are complicit and encouraging these acts, to be sued for damages they helped create.
DeSantis’ proposal would make criminal rioters fully liable for property damages they create under the guise of political protest. Perhaps most significantly, it would allow those victimized by riots to sue government officials and obtain damages if they’re demonstrated to have failed in their duties to safeguard public safety. This provision would force Democratic officials who tacitly support BLM and ANTIFA mob action to enforce the laws against vandalism and destruction, even if they find it politically inconvenient.
Oh, and no more arrest and immediate bail for those who are detained on charges of riot offenses. They'll sit it out at least until the initial court date.
