Lindsey Graham Rips Trump Visa Ban, Cites “Effect on Economy”

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is drawing more criticism for bashing President Trump’s decision to suspend certain visa programs until at least 2021.

The executive order will suspend H-1B visas, H-2B visas, and certain other visas. The order makes some exceptions for workers who are deemed to be essential to the U.S. economy or national interest as well as the spouse or child of a U.S. citizen.

The order is meant to be part of President Trump’s promise to put American workers first.

“The President is taking decisive action to put American families and workers first in the reopening of the economy and DHS is proudly partnering with him to implement this important executive action..American citizens must be first in line for American jobs.”

Graham says he thinks it's a dangerous move and will have the opposite effect on our economy.

“This decision, in my view, will have a chilling effect on our economic recovery at a time we should be doing all we can to restore the economy.”

President Trump will also extend the moratorium on immigration, a move that is overwhelmingly supported by Americans.

As part of the Trump administration's promise to put American workers and families first, they argue that suspending the mass hiring of foreign workers will put Americans first in line, for jobs, as the economy is reopening from the months long shutdown related to the coronavirus.

Graham has drawn criticism in a few key areas of disagreement with President Trump and his supporters, lately. Graham has long said he was going to subpoena top officials in the Spygate scandal but has taken little action to date.

  1. With all do respect, Mr. Graham is wrong. Americans need to be the first to be hired and the first to be retained in their jobs. Students and other young folks should be encouraged to work in unskilled positions for summer jobs. A bit of hard work may help these young socialists understand that making a living means hard work and effort, and they would perhaps learn the value of a dollar. Employing youth would help them expend their energies into something positive rather than idle hands rioting and destroying what others have built. Juveniles who commit crimes should be employed as part of their rehabilitation. Even four hours a day of working on a farm, planting or picking crops, cleaning stables etc. would keep them busy and productive. What is wrong with prison labor in some of these positions? Working prisoners for a few hours a day would help defer some tax dollars for their keep behind bars. Put all Americans to work. Labor should only be imported for short periods in the event of a worker shortage in certain labor markets. For example, a nursing shortage or IT shortage, but companies would have to prove they’ve exhausted all avenues, and that there are no American applicants before being granted permission to sponsor a foreign worker. No more paying people under the table. That is stealing from all Americans.

    1. Wow I guess Lyndsey Graham has his donors to protect – he has turned out to be a total phony as a Republican and I hope he loses his election – he has promised so much and delivered nothing.

      1. I agree. With no respect I call graham a liver that talks much and delivers little. Part of the problem is the business experts that graduate from college would rather bring in someone from a foreign country than train an American.

    2. Senator Graham is unaware that many graduates from some information technology institutions have difficulty competing against graduates from some other countries. Employers need to spend resources to bring them up to international standards.
Several recent articles about incompleteness of medical education in the Wall Street Journal reliably documented how political issues have been elbowed into the curricula at the expense of reality. Such as the ‘post-Flexner’ crowd. Young medical graduates realize that the lack of teaching about the history of medicine to avoid reinventing the wheel, and the taking of a H&PE (history and physical examination) bares the incompleteness of their education, and they therefore retreat into manageable subspecialties; and/or jump ship, contributing to ‘physician burnout.

The winnowing of clinical faculty, i.e. senior successful physicians with decades of experience in the final years of medical education, conceals the incompleteness of existing full-time faculty; and the deans avoiding direct discussions.
Finally replacing testing on real life patients by lifeless multiple-choice questions is the last nail in the coffin

    1. I agree Graham is the most wishy washy person I have ever seen. Too much like his old friend MaCain. The only way he will get any support from me is if he takes down all the leftist liars and crooks on the left. He will not do it because he is in their club and they protect other members especially the left !!

  2. This is confusing. My boss is a PhD botanist from Bulgaria. He is here on a green card but may have to leave. This will put our government funded research ( we are developing corn that yields nearly twice as much edible grain as current strains) in jeopardy. There is no one else who can do his job. Are we to support Lindsay or Trump? What’s more important – feeding America or giving employment to someone who can’t do the job. Is anyone paying attention?

    1. More GM food? Don’t want it. Some foreign countries won’t except GM food either. Also, corn causes inflammation in the body – not good for humans to each much of it.

      1. It’s not the corn, it’s the by products that are bad, because of their changed chemical configurations. Corn gluten, corn oil, and High Fructose Corn Syrup are the main culprits. These Items are found in nearly every processed food! AND nearly all of the corn processed in the US is GMO!

    2. Your point is well taken Arnie and I am indeed paying attention. You are telling me with more than 330 million people in our country your boss is the only one qualified? IF what you say is true then maybe a special exemption may be in order. Given the 2x yield stated and if he were truly the only one why not seek an exemption . My bet is that it would be granted.
For your question “whom do we support”, over simplifying between Trump and Lindsey. may be a bit short sighted. Please look at the bigger picture. Should you be in favor low unemployment for all US citizens, and should you NOT like mass rioting, burning, looting and insurrection the choice is clear. It is these misguided “hate and discontent ” individuals that may need employment most of all (neo-Bolshivicks excluded). Best regards Arnie.

    3. You are an idiot. Do you realize the guv pays farmers To not plant… have for years because if they planted and harvested everything there is no place to store it before it rots.

    4. How can there be no one else that can do that job. Are we to believe that in a country of over 300 hundred million there is no one else? Not that your boss is doing it but how much technical data and secrets have we lost to foreign employees?

  3. Lindsy Graham and The Mormon RINO are probably the most endangered republicans out there. Both are in states that are becoming Heavily Democratic, and they desire to collect their Senate Pensions. Most people do not know about the House and Senate retirement plans but I assure, they are considerable. Decoupled from Social Security and with Token deposit requirements, they are quite successful for making House and Senate Representatives comfortable when they are finally tossed to the curb. You have to be in fo r 20 to become part of The Club, but once you are, you are set for the remainder of your life. Double Dipping is the Congressional Way.

  4. Lindsay Graham is globalist cloaking himself to appear a Trump ally. He’s part of the swamp and must be primaried.

  5. trump is correct many more americans will be hired if visas are cut its all about saving money. cheaper labor on a higher level. over 50 million people in the usa born in other countries. We need time to absorb them. NOT counting the illegals. No other country has that many immigrants in such a short period of time. Open borders democrats donot care about this country all about change.

  6. Lindsay Graham is one of the most dangerous swamp rats. He was originally a Trump hater and remains so today. He pretends to support Trump when it will benefit him politically. SNAKE!!

  7. I, an American electrical engineer, competed against H1-B engineers during the last 20 years of my career. This reduced my earning capacity by an estimated 30% and has made a similar reduction in my social security allotment. I know many fellow American engineers who left their field due to wage competition with H1-B engineers. Having too few qualified American engineers was not the problem. The problem was that foreign engineers would be very happy to work here at reduced wages, they would do anything to escape their home country!

  8. MR GRAHAM IS STUPID AND STRADDLES THE FENCE. HE IS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO US SOUTH CAROLINIANS THAT THINK HE STOP TALKING AND DO HID FREAKIN JOB. HE IS FULL OF WHALE DUNG. AND CERTAINLY DOES NOT REPRESENT A MAJORITY OFUS. WHY YOU LITTLE PIMPLE ARE YOU NOT INVESTIGATING OBAMA AND CROOKED JOE BIDEN. YOU DON’T HAVE ANY GUTS. WEAK AS WATER. STOP MOTOR MOUTHING AND DO WHAT YOUR TITLE GIVES YOU. YOU HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO INVESTIGATE. INVESTIGATE STOP THE HORSE SHIT COMING OUT OF YOUR MOUTH. YOU DON’T GET ANY MONEY UNTIL YOU PUT ACTION INSTEAD OF WORDS. AND JAIME

    MAY BEAT YOUR STUPIDITY.

  9. Thank you Mr. President! Now maybe Disney will be forced to hire back the workers they dumped and replaced with foreign workers.
To hell with Lindsey Graham, he has a habit of putting the needs of Americans last.

  10. I suspect Graham did NOT say, “This decision, in my view, will have a chilling effect on our economic recovery….” as you have reported; but said, “This decision, in my view, will have a chilling affect on our economic recovery…”

  11. Grayham has always been an iffy type. I’ve always been leery of him because he’s friends with Biden. Don’t trust him.
Reminds me of that other back stabber from Utah.

  12. Senator Graham as a point. Here’s why I say this. A friend of mine lives in a small town that has a large number of visitors late spring thru early fall. He works part time at a small, family-owned motel. Every summer, the owners rely on foreign help for their motel. The “regular” population of the town are older, mostly retired folks. They are NOT the ones looking for work, nor are they a bunch of folks content w/ unemployment / other government assistance and don’t WANT to work. Thus the need for help from overseas. We’re not talking about hundreds of workers here; we’re talking about 3, 4 at the most. Yes, reforms are needed, but not a total ban on foreign workeres.

  13. Always trying to cover both sides of the fence. The wolf in sheeps clothing. Looking out for himself first and the American people third!
    #Lindsay’s got to go

  14. Lindsey “THE MOUTH FROM THE SOUTH” Graham. Always shoots his southern mouth off but nothing but a bag blow hard. No a thing ever comes from his mutli million dollar investigations of tax payer funds. Just loves to hear himself talk big. A real DC Swamp toilet treasure or for those in Rio Lindo a Piece of S#*t.

  15. What the hell is Graham Doing heading up the investigation? He should be investigated for his major role in promoting the fake Russian dossier. He admits telling his butt buddy McCain to give it to Comey.
As far as the visas He has always been a proponent of illegal and cheap labor.

  16. Lindsey Graham is right, especially for some critical areas of our economy. The US is only producing 40-50% of the engineers and other STEM qualified people needed to fill critical US jobs. Our children are not encouraged to endure the hard study which leads to success in these fields. Our industry sends jobs to places like China which has a large workforce with strong technical skills, and these jobs are not likely to be filled with US citizens anytime soon.

    1. Why would a person study to be in STEM when a nyc school janitor without a degree makes 30k more after 10 years? why would you go to college pay the debt to not find work? you want more americans in stem, stop trading away their jobs. I cant find work because of h1b… but my postal delivery person makes 150k… all he has to do is drive a truck and he gets great benefits, and will retire with how much pay? if i had to do it over, i would never have gotten in stem and watched my salary of 35 years get depressed…

they are not going into stem because they wont have work and wont get raises or salary as a normal career
better to be a janitor, postal worker, and tons of other jobs that do not require such hard work, constant learning, and more!! for some reason you think importing 85,000 people into a field maintains its profitability? if ya going to spend money on school, be a lawyer, they dont import lawyers and depress earnings. programmers cant even legally organize into unions, the law forbids it.

  17. Lindsey might make a replacement for Trump. But so would Tom Cotton, Rep Gowdy, Bill Cassidy, TimScott or any other clean Republicans will beat Biden.Poll them and see what happens. Poor Trump is not going to be able to shake the media enemy.I support Trump but if we need to beat Biden with another Conservative, so be it.20 points of Biden’s poll numbers are anti Trump numbers, not pro Biden

  18. Graham is nothing but a big empty mouth i will never support him ,where are those investigatios tha he was to initiate

  19. Just who is Senator Graham beholden to that he thinks Visa holders are more entitled to American jobs? Apparently, he has no concern for the millions of Americans who lost their jobs and/or businesses due to Dr. Fauci’s flawed recommendations to lockdown the U.S. And Senator Graham, where’s your concern for all the university graduates freshly out of colleges, etc., who need jobs? President Trump has not banned all Visa holders – there are some deemed “Essential.” But other than these people, Americans deserve to come first, and if they can’t fulfill the needs of any particular job, then look to bring in those with special backgrounds. This is one of the reasons I don’t support Senator Graham nor his alignment with John MCain who did everything he could to harm America with his revenge against the President. McCain gave us ObamaNoCare, and was responsible for turning over the Hillary Clinton paid for dossier that led to the Democrats Russian hoax impeachment against President Trump not to mention other things he did when he was in the service that caused the lives of soldiers on a military ship.

  20. Why am I Not suprised !! Graham is a Deep State Looser !! He sometimes talks a big game but he Usually Never stands up for the Right Reasons !! He’s as dangerous as Romney !!

  21. I think Lindsey Graham is acting ridiculously. The ban is logical, common sense. What’s the matter with him?
Every time I think he does a good thing, he follows it up with the opposite. Stupid and illogical.

  22. I really want to believe and support Lindsey Graham but all it seems like is a bunch of talk from him to get re-elected. I have been tempted to contribute to his re-election Campaign but this will change my mind about it

  23. No it wasn’t bad. All illegals, DACA, and Muslims should be deported and banned from America forever so Americans can get jobs.

  24. for the last ten years they have been laying off U.S. worker and bringing in visa workers at a lower wage
and making the long time employ train their replacement of lose their severance package Gram has sold
    out to his Buss. doners

  25. What the hell does Graham want? MORE people to die of COVID 19? It appears the Democrats got to him and he is now a Rino!

  26. Somedays graham makes a lot of sense then his Democratic side falls out of his ass and looks like a fool. Tell me Lindsay, when was the last time you saw a democrat disagree with Pelosi in public. You want to get your ass beat in November, Keep It Up.

  27. This may be the reason you are not doing so well at the poles. If you don’t like what Trump is doing talk to Trump. Don’t spout it out on national news. You should support our president or we won’t support you

  28. Americans need to be first. God Bless America as we open and keep us safe. I hope all Americans will abide by opening regulations

  29. Lindsey Graham is absolutely right. Those of us in the hospitality industry need the J-1 students to work for us during peek season. The American students do not have the drive nor work ethics nor do any apply for housekeeping. The work is too hard and too lowly for them. The J-1 students, male or female, are delighted to work in hotels and motels. They are dependable, and do their jobs well, All of them are very ambitious and find second jobs. . They also want to learn about our country and culture. Not allowing the J-1 students is a disaster to the industry. It is too late now to reconsider allowing the student to enter our country.
I am a staunch Trump supporter but very upset with this decision.

    1. The point of letting J-1 students to work in the hospitality industry is like putting a cheap patch on a problem. It can be fixed by changing the way we educate our youth so they can appreciate hard work. If the pay is too low that can also be fixed by raising their wages which ultimately will be paid by the customers. It is better to pay more to our own people than having cheap labor from outside and having young people rioting, burning and robing what other people have obtained with their work and thinking that Capitalism is bad and Socialism is much better

  30. WHAT WRONG GRAHAM AND WHY ARE YOU DRAGGING YOUR FEET . HE NEED TO GET YOUR SUBPOENA’S MOVING INTO ACTION. OR DO YOU HAVE A LAZY REAR END.! I HAVE WATCHED YOU ON A NUMBER OF ACTIONS AND I HAVE FOUND YOU TO MAKE ME LEARY OF JUST WHO’S SIDE ARE YOU ON. TRUMP HAS A CONTINUED FIGHT ON HIS HAND AND HE CAN’T DO IT ALL BY HIMSELF. HE NEEDS SUPPORTERS ON THE REPUBLICAN SIDE AND AT TIMES I BEEN WONDER YOU PLAY BOTH SIDES. TO BE FRIENDS.. AND TRUMP NEEDS STRONG SUPPORTERS, NOT WEAK ONES. HE HAS ALOT TO DEAL WITH ON HIS PLATE. ARE YOU ONE OF THEM OR NOT. YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT VISAS . FOR ME THAT SOUND LIKE IT SHOULD BE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST. HE IS DEALING WITH ANTIFA , BLM THAT ARE MARXIST, AND SOROS THE STATUES. AND HOW TO HELP THE COPS . WHERE ARE YOU ON SPYGATE. WHY ARE YOU SLACKING, WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID YOU WON’T HAVE FRIENDS IF YOU GO AHEAD WITH THE INVESTIGATION. YOU ARE IN THE SENATE FOR A REASON—–DO YOUR JOB FIRST —FRIENDS COME LATER.! YOU NEED TO SPEED THIS UP., TO HELP TRUMP. OR OTHERWISE HAND IT OVER TO SOMEONE WHO CAN GET IT DOWN, SOONER.!!!!!

    1. Nice Call, numerous times I’ve also called out the republican congress!! John Solomon and Tom Fitton have done far more than the entire GOP congress in support of President Trump!! We need real men to step in to the top GOP positions in congress – pussies need not apply!!!

  31. Programmer looking for work… get tons of calls from people in india scalping jobs… proxy interviews… and more… over 6 months after losing a job of 15 years…. they hired h1b…

  32. We have enough people in the USA that need the work and more than enough illegals to do all jobs… why bring more?

  33. Why don’t you investigate Soros foundation that funds all anti America protesters like antifa and BLM…and actually provide lethal items….. plus investigate Biden and Obama for corruption and breaking laws against the president…… and start investigating teachers and professors for brainwashing liberalism to innocent students….rather than bring more people and leave us locked up and jobless

  34. I’ve just read comments from the basket of deplorables. You boot licking, trump loving imbeciles are just like him–hate filled, fear mongering, and godless. Trump is a moron, a buffoon, and a clown; he’s a self-serving, me me me baby who screws us all to get what he wants. And what he wants benefits trump and sucks America into his own type of swamp. Get out of your reptilian brains and THINK.

  35. A couple of years ago I asked my Republican senator why they didn’t do anything about the immigration laws when Republicans had all three houses. He sent me a long drawn out letter mostly saying how he was for immigration. And then he kicked me off his emailed newsletter.

  36. This RINO can’t leave office soon enough. He talks tough, but never follows through. He turns on Trump frequently.

  37. Considering this day and age, I completely agree with President Trump. It is time to put Americans first in the job market. We need to take care of our own home first before helping our neighbors.

  38. I think that Lindsey should explain what foreign workers need to be in the country for our benefit. I cannot agree with the concept of using non-citizens to do work when we have a serious percentage of the people doing nothing. You might think that we need more competition for the jobs to keep the prices paid down, but non-citizen personnel are not the best source, in my humble opinion.

  39. So has Lindsey done anything besides Grandstand since elected? Lindsey appears to be bought and paid for but the chamber of communists!

  40. I am a life long SC Republican and supporter of L Graham. This support will be withdrawn unless Sen. Graham reverses course on this issue. He is totally wrong-headed on continuing to support H-1B visas, H-2B visas and importing spies and subversive elements from various countries (including CHINA, RUSSIA, etc.). We should penalize any company, institution, agency that purports to be unable to find the required capabilities without first demonstrating their complete inability to recruit or train such capability from the US workforce or educational institutions. We cannot continue to allow the opportunity for espionage or infiltration to go unchecked. Globalization does not MAGA!!

  41. Republican politicians ought to criticize Trump for acting like a clown at his so-called rallies. He doesn’t present the sort of image I expect of the President of the United States. They should also call him out for his many false claims almost every day.
