Senator Chuck Schumer, D-NY, has been vocal in his criticism of President Trump since he was a candidate for the U.S. Presidency. His criticism has been increasingly more common and negative since then
On Thursday, President Trump penned a letter to Sen. Schumer in response to a Schumer criticism earlier in the day that called the administration’s action on the pandemic, ‘inadequate’. Schumer wrote:
“As the Coronavirus spreads rapidly into every corner of our nation and its terrible, grim toll grows more severe with each passing day, the tardiness and inadequacy of this Administration’s response to the crisis becomes more painfully evident.”
Trump responded in fashion.
President Trump is obviously no stranger to criticism from democrats and it shows as he starts off thanking Chuck for his 'public relations' letter that was loaded with 'inaccuracies'.
“Dear Senator Schumer: Thank you for your Democrat public relations letter and incorrect sound bites which are wrong in every way.”
He addresses Schumer's accusation that the administration isn't using all its resources when it comes to the Defense Production Act. President Trump notes that he has been using the powers consistently but hasn't had many instances where a formal request was needed. He notes that companies are stepping up on their own, in many cases, to help produce needed supplies.
Schumer's letter also stated that it was 'past time for the administration to designate a senior military officer to handle this crisis.
The President points out that Rear Admiral John Polowczyk is in charge of purchasing and distribution - a point that President Trump says Schumer and his team knew but chose to ignore.
We have given New York many things, including hospitals, medical centers, medical supplies, record numbers of ventilators, and more. You should have had New York much better prepared than you did, and as Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx said yesterday, New York was very late in its fight against the virus. As you are aware, the Federal Government is merely a back-up for state governments. Unfortunately, your state needed far more of a back-up than most others.
The President's letter then goes on to point out that while Democrats were fixated on the 'impeachment hoax' this crisis was manifesting.
I’ve known you for many years, but I never knew how bad a Senator you are for the state of New York, until I became President.
