After Lee, It’s Lincoln’s Turn

First, they came for the Confederates. And that purge is far from over.
Jefferson Davis Highway in Arlington, named for the president of the Confederacy, has been re-christened Richmond Highway.

An Arlington group is calling for the removal of Robert E. Lee’s name from Lee Highway to be replaced by “Mildred & Richard Loving Avenue.” The Lovings were an interracial couple who challenged and helped overturn Virginia’s anti-miscegenation law in the Warren Court.

This month, the statue of Gen. Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson was removed from the campus of Virginia Military Institute, where Jackson taught before leading Confederate troops at the First Battle of Bull Run.

Jackson would die of friendly fire after his victory at Chancellorsville in 1863.

Had he been with Lee at Gettysburg, two months later, that most decisive battle of the Civil War might have had a different outcome.

But the cultural-Marxist revolution has moved far beyond Davis, Lee and Jackson. Out west, it is Abraham Lincoln’s turn.

A renaming committee of the San Francisco school district wants the Great Emancipator’s name removed from Lincoln High School for crimes against Native Americans.

Our 16th president ordered the Navajo tribe off their Arizona lands into New Mexico, resulting in a forced march of 450 miles. He approved the hanging of 38 Dakota Indians who had fought in the Dakota War in Minnesota in 1862, the largest mass execution in U.S. history.

Lincoln's Homestead and Pacific Railway acts led to the loss of large swaths of tribal lands.

Other names to be removed from San Francisco schools include those of George Washington, Herbert Hoover and Sen. Dianne Feinstein. In 1984, Mayor Feinstein allowed a Confederate Battle Flag to be flown at City Hall.

As one looks down the list of greats whose statues are to be pulled down and names removed from public buildings, there seems to be a single common great sin for which none can be forgiven.

The unpardonable heresy? Columbus, Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Jackson, Polk, Lee, Teddy Roosevelt, Wilson and Lincoln disbelieved in the equality of all races, peoples, cultures and civilizations. And these men lived and acted in conformity with this disbelief.

Lincoln detested slavery but did not believe in social and political equality between the races. As he conceded to Stephen Douglas in one of their 1858 debates, "We cannot, then, make them equal."

Still, between 1789 and 1960, a republic led by those men, who preached but did not practice equality, built the greatest nation in history.

Ever victorious in war, with the mightiest manufacturing base and the highest standard of living on earth, America was by the day of JFK the envy of mankind.

Yet, since Jamestown in 1607, we had been governed by men who disbelieved in equality and disregarded the suggestion that, "All men are created equal."

That proposition first appeared in a Declaration of Independence written by a member of Virginia's landed aristocracy who owned scores of slaves and described the Indians against whom we fought as "merciless savages" in that same document signed on July 4, 1776.

For Lee, the dishonors do not stop. A Virginia history commission just voted to replace the general's statue in the U.S. Capitol with a statue of Barbara Rose Johns, a teenager who, in 1951, led a strike at her high school to demand the same benefits white kids were receiving.

Was Lee really the racist and traitor of his haters' depiction, deserving of the gallows rather than being honored for how he sought to sever the Union? Perhaps the last word should go to a president who still revered Lee as late as

1960, Dwight Eisenhower:

"General Robert E. Lee was... one of the supremely gifted men produced by our Nation. He believed unswervingly in the Constitutional validity of his cause which until 1865 was still an arguable question in America; he was a poised and inspiring leader, true to the high trust reposed in him by millions of his fellow citizens; he was thoughtful yet demanding of his officers and men, forbearing with captured enemies but ingenious, unrelenting and personally courageous in battle, and never disheartened by a reverse or obstacle. Through all his many trials, he remained selfless almost to a fault and unfailing in his faith in God.

Taken altogether, he was noble as a leader and as a man, and unsullied as I read the pages of our history.

"From deep conviction, I simply say this: a nation of men of Lee's calibre would be unconquerable in spirit and soul. Indeed, to the degree that present-day American youth will strive to emulate his rare qualities, including his devotion to this land as revealed in his painstaking efforts to help heal the Nation's wounds once the bitter struggle was over, we, in our own time of danger in a divided world, will be strengthened and our love of freedom sustained.

"Such are the reasons that I proudly display the picture of this great American on my office wall."

  1. People today are so much smarter and well informed than at any time in history. Thank God, we can set the history straight, first America, then the world.

    1. This is possibly the most ignorant comment I ever have seen. Asking a young person about history today yields a display of ignorance about the history of the world that is amazing to behold. Instead we should asking what happened to history education. It seems to have been replaced by socialist studies and revisionist history. Real history is a serious academic discipline. The “woke” revision is a disingenuous self-serving misrepresentation. It is political activism and not actual history.

    2. YOU…dare to use the “Thinker” icon in your imicilic posting! It would be well if YOU were denied propagation in our gene pool.

    3. People ARE NOT smarter today than than any time in History because erasing
history to conform to warped ideas is wrong. The people of the 18th and 19th century
lived in their times with their ways of thinking and we need to study and learn
from their mistakes. To do otherwise is just plain wrong.

      1. I totally agree. The liberal democrats and haters of american history should be ashamed. That’s right they have no shame. They spend all their time and valuable energy in destroying history. We should be applauding the positive changes that have been made and it wasn’t by the radicals we see changing history today.they would be better served in rooting out the corruption and illegal actions in the present.

      2. a “smart” man learns from his own mistakes, a “wise” man learns from the mistakes of others. socialist can do neither, yet blame others for their stupidity and failures. IF you don’t kill the communist, he WILL kill you. DEATH to tyrants!

    4. I think people are the dumbest than at any other time in history. Read some of the writings of Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton and others and compare it to our “leaders” of today, they don’t even hold a candle. The “normal” people have NO CLUE as to what is going on around them unless it is on twitter and no idea of history. We are a sad society with no morals or values, just what makes us feel good in the moment.

    5. A 2019 poll of recent high school graduates showed that 2 out of 3 had a more favorable view of Socialism than they did of Capitalism. THIS ALONE indicates what most of us have known for years: public education in America has become an abject failure for the past two decades, at least. Children are no longer being educated, they’re being indoctrinated. So, sorry, but your comment about people being more educated is wrong on several, no, EVERY level.

Need another classic example? There are few greater indicators of a lack of intelligence than voting against your own best interests, and that’s just what more than 70-million did on November 3rd (unless of course you believe higher taxes, higher energy costs, job-crippling regulation, open borders, censorship of opposing views, and all-out assaults on your 2nd Amendment rights – to name a few – are in your best interest).

    6. Every village has an idiot ,Yez Iamwontoo should stop taking advantage of that ,so lets leave GOD out of this and thank somebody you know

      1. it was leaving GOD out (of the schools) in 1962 that started Amerika’s downfall. The killing of JFK by the deep state, was the result. None of this could’ve happened if not for the two faced liar & white supremacist Abe Lincoln.

  3. Ever since our ape ancestors formed clans, we’ve been annihilating and enslaving each other, taking lands. Mesopotamians, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Hapsburg Empire, Vikings, British Empire, Russian Empire, North American indigenous, South and Central American indigenous, up thru the Nazis and into present day China, we still murder, enslave, and steal lands. Unless you’ve descended from royalty (which also didn’t give you necessarily relief) you more than likely have slaves in your ancestry. We need to stop this “I’m the victim” and reparations trash. More whites are killed by the police than blacks and just about every case, the person committed violent acts or resisted attempts to arrest them, no matter what their skin color. There still is zero proof George Floyd was “targeted” for his skin color, he probably did get “targeted” for his previous criminal history. The lies about Breanna being murdered in her bed are still being told. Their claims are “No Justice, No Peace” but they insist that anything but a conviction of murder is no justice. This needs to stop.

  4. Isn’t it way past time that we move towards removing the Marxist from our great country ? I mean after all this is our country & we do not want to change or replace our history. I know there were a lot of stupid people who elected our first Marxist president twice, but hopefully that mistake will never be repeated. Anyone that wants to live in tyranny should pack it up & get the hell out of here, we are a freedom loving, god fearing country & we ain’t going to trade those values for nobody. There are places you can go & live in tyranny if that’s what YOU want. So don’t leave mad 😡, just leave !

  5. The liberal Democrats are afraid of the Southerners and yes I am still proud of the Confederate leaders and states. We will never go away. Cowards always want to destroy what they fear. We will always be here and you can’t do anything about it.

  6. I can be corrected, but I understand that Robert E. Lees grade point average still stands at West Point unsurpassed

    1. Harvey Milk was NOT a hero. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The Mayor of San Francisco was the target of the former San Francisco supervisor
and Harvey Milk just happened to be in his office at the time. ANYONE in that
office would have been shot along with the Mayor. The Homosexuals (I refuse to
call them GAY) built this hero crap because they have no real heroes.

  8. What will happen in the future is that the Black and Hispanic population will be in the
majority. This country will be run by them, just like the Central and South American
countries and the African Countries. The U.S. will cease being the greatest nation because
they ruin it. Look at the countries of Central and South America and Sub Sb-Saharan Africa.
They are all impoverished with leaders who take all the good stuff and leave the rest
    starving and destitute.

  9. Libtards and traitors can remove statues and change names, but they cannot change what happened. They can only lie about it. As for changing the name of Lincoln High School in San Francisco, that was actually a good plan, but they did it for a stupid reason. Making a few dozen bad Indians good was a relatively minor move compared to deliberately starting a war that killed about 650,000 people and invaded, conquered and, destroyed a nation.

  10. Should’a known just like Paul Simon said “all the CRAP I learned in high school it’s a wonder I can think at all!” With the simpering whimpering leftist liberals mouthing bu__s__t our kids learned NOTHING. Next comes the hard liner Bolsheviks when the liberals take the government and their purpose will become clear The green new commie deal!
